Hey, what’s up, welcome back to the Home Based Business Podcast. Today, I want to dive deep into developing a growth mindset, and just how powerful it is when we really focus on developing one. First, I want to share a story on how I transitioned from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, and how it completely transformed my life. So, I always had a fixed mindset my whole entire life, and I honestly believe most of us do, until we figure out how to develop vs fixed mindset. And I believe the reason why is how our culture and society is created. From the time that we’re born, our parents are telling us exactly how to live our life, we already have a fixed mindset from day one and then when we start school, our teachers are telling us what to do and how to act and how to be. And so, in school, we also have a fixed mindset because we have to fit into this little box that they want us to fit into. And then, when we start our first job, we have bosses and our managers who are telling us what to do also and how to act and that forces us to have a fixed mindset as well. Because we have to fit into this little box on how to act, they’re telling us when we could work, when we could take a break, when we could go to the restroom, when we could eat lunch, when we could have days off. They’re telling us exactly how to live our life, right?
And then, for some of us who get into college, we also have to live in this fixed mindset. Our professors are telling us what to do and when to do it and what the deadlines are, and what we’re going to learn and so, we have this fixed mindset, pretty much for the first 20 years of our life. And for me, once I graduated college, and actually started working as an EMT for the 911 system, I was still working with a vs fixed mindset, because there, I also had my managers and supervisors and I was only utilizing what I learned in school. And what ended up happening for me was, after doing that for six years, I knew I wasn’t fulfilled with it and I believe a reason to that is because I was living with a fixed mindset in my career. It was so bad that I couldn’t see my future, I literally could not see 20 years into my future. And I actually went through a period where I was unhappy and unfulfilled, and I was depressed for about a year. And the second that someone introduced to me entrepreneurship, and the ability to build a home based business, that’s when a the best quotes were introduced to my life as well.
For the first time in my life, I was having people tell me that I could think bigger, that I could be bigger, that I could act bigger, and that I could live bigger. And from that day forward, I completely transformed my life. I started growing from that day forward, instead of living my life with a fixed mindset, I decided to live my life with activities. And that one change in my life; changing from fixed to growth, I believe was the biggest catalyst to my success today. And I also believe, once you’re able to transition from a fixed to a growth mindset, that will also be the biggest catalyst to your success.
So, why is developing a growth mindset so important? I believe it’s necessary to learn the definition of what is so that we can break out of mediocrity so, we can live a life of freedom. Because at the end of the day, if you’re listening to this podcast, there’s something deep inside of you that wants some type of freedom. That type of freedom could be through supplemental income, or you could replace your income, or you just want to change your lifestyle completely. And you might even be listening to this podcast, thinking, “How do I get out of mediocrity?“, and the answer is to define it, the answer is to get out of a fixed mindset. And it’s not going to happen overnight, once you make a decision to start developing a growth mindset and leave a fixed mindset, it’s going to be a journey, it’s going to be something that you continually work on for years and decades. It’s something that I’m still working on to this day, what’s going to end up happening for you is, you’ll end up getting better every single day and month and year. And I promise you, if you embrace developing a growth mindset, you will slowly get out of mediocrity and you’ll get to a life to develop the freedom that you want.
So, what exactly is the difference between a fixed mindset and the right books? A fixed mindset is where you learn something and you pretty much stay at that level, you don’t decide to grow and improve any further from that base knowledge. And I would say the majority of society has a fixed mindset, they only grow to a certain point, they only learn just enough to get by, they even do just enough work to get by. And what ends up happening when we have a fixed mindset is, we live a life of mediocrity. And that mediocrity can take place in many forms, it could be unfulfillment, it could be a lack of results, it could be a lack of great relationships in your life, it could be a lack of so many different areas, which I’m going to get into. And what is a growth mindset? About it is improving and growing in all areas of your life, you’re always seeking how to learn more, how to become more, how to be more. And when you start incorporating a into all these different areas of your life, you’re going to start noticing 1% improvements in your life consistently and over time, what’s going to happen is, you’re going to look back on your life and you’re not even going to recognize the person that you’ve become, because you’ve literally have changed who you became, and others in your life, your loved ones will also see that change in you as well, if you embrace this brain change.
So, how exactly do we go from a fixed mindset to the best examples? There are actually eight different areas that you want to focus on specifically, to fully embrace the growth mindset. I originally learned this concept from Darren Hardy, the author of The Compound Effect, and he talks about this thing called the Wheel of Life. And so, the Wheel of Life has eight different areas. The first area is your physical life. So, if we have a fixed mindset to our physical life, we end up having a physical life of mediocrity. And what I’m talking about specifically is your health and so, your physical health becomes mediocre because you have that fixed mindset in that area of your life. The second pdf that you focus on improving and developing a growth mindset for your physical life, that’s when you take things into your hands with improving your health, your fitness increases, your wellness increases, you improve your nutrition, you improve the water you’re drinking, you improve the foods you’re eating for adults, you literally improve over time, so many different areas that has to do with your physical life.

Ryan: The second area is for your financial life. If you have an adults fixed mindset with your financial life, you end up having a life of mediocrity with your finances, and that could be living paycheck by paycheck, that could be having too many bills at the end of the month, not having enough days in the month, that could be you being in a position where you can’t make investments for your future; there’s so many things that could happen by creating a financial life of mediocrity. Now, when you start improving, and introduce a growth mindset to your financial life, that’s when things start drastically changing for you, that’s when you become a lot open to investments, that’s when you become a lot open to managing your finances, to increasing your finances, to hanging out with people that have the finances that you desire, and over time, you’re going to get to a financial life that you’ve always dreamed of.
The third quiz area is your professional life or your business life. If you have a fixed mindset, you might not even have a professional or a business life, you just consider that your job. But the second that you introduce a growth mindset to your professional and business life, that’s when you become so open minded to business opportunities, to doing something that you make your own, to thinking of ways of how you can serve the world. And if you stay consistent with that, you’ll eventually find something that will help you serve the world, it will help you serve people, it will help you do something great in this life. The fourth article area is your mental life. If you have a fixed mindset with your mental life, this is where we let our emotions get the best of us. I believe this is where depression could creep in, as well as unfulfillment and with just not being happy with what we’re doing on a daily basis. And once we introduce a growth mindset to our mental life, we become masters of our days, we wake up ready to conquer the day and we go to sleep satisfied, right?
And our fifth quote area is our spiritual life. The best advice I’ve ever heard about our spiritual life, which I got from Jim Rohn, he said, “Whatever you believe in, work on that every single day.”. And so, that’s my best advice for going from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset with our spiritual life. If you’re not working on what you believe in, that’s what’s going to lead to mediocrity, and to develop a growth mindset in your spiritual life, focus and work on what you believe in every single day of your life. The sixth area is our lifestyle. If you have a fixed mindset with your lifestyle, what ends up happening is you live in the same zip code your whole entire life, or you end up driving the same car your whole entire life, or you end up working at the same job your whole entire life or you end up earning the same income your whole entire life. And when you embrace a growth mindset for your lifestyle, everything starts to change, you could change your zip code, you could change your job, you could start a business, you could change your business, you could improve your business, you could change the people in your life, you could change where you vacation, you could change every activity area of your life, once you introduce a growth mindset to your lifestyle.
The seventh area is your family. This includes your immediate family, and it also includes your friends. If you have a fixed mindset in this area, you’re just going to have mediocre relationships, you’ll have mediocre relationships with your family, and you’ll have mediocre relationships with your friends. Once you introduce a growth mindset to your friends and your family, you’re going to start creating remarkable relationships with these people and once you have amazing relationships in your life, you’re going to know the true power of creating a growth mindset in this area because having a close friend or a close family member, there’s nothing that replaces that. And the eighth area to focus on in creating a growth mindset is your relationship with your significant other. If you have a fixed mindset and this area, the relationship gets stale, and boring, and you can’t really see a future in it. And the second that you introduce a growth mindset to your relationship, then your relationship becomes vibrant, and exciting, and enthusiastic and spontaneous.
So, these are the eight areas to focus on in The Wheel of Life for developing a growth mindset. And what I recommend with all these areas, is create quarterly goals so, you can improve these areas. And so, with each one, rate it 1-10, one being horrible and ten being amazing. I want you to be honest with yourself, rate yourself in all these areas and figure out where you’re at and then with these quarterly goals, choose the ones that you want to work on, choose the ones that need the most improvement so that you can create a better life for yourself. And after doing this for years, what you’re going to start noticing is, all eight of these areas have high numbers, you have 8 out of 10, or 7 out of 10, or 9 out of 10, or a 10 out of 10 and your life just flows naturally and you start design your life how you want it to be. And once you do that, you’re going to understand the true power of developing a growth mindset, you’re going to get out of mediocrity to greatness.
Let me ask you this, what if you really did focus on developing a growth mindset for yourself? What if you really decided to leave a fixed mindset? What would happen to your life? Just imagine you make a decision today, to develop a growth mindset and you score yourself 1-10, in all eight of these areas, and you start working on each of these areas every single quarter. And let’s say you do this for the next five years and imagine five years from now, all eight of these areas of your life, or at least a 8 out of 10, imagine what your life is going to look like when you do this. Imagine what your physical life looks like, imagine what your financial life looks like, imagine what your professional and business life looks like, imagine what your mental life looks like, imagine what your spiritual life looks like, imagine what your overall lifestyle looks like, imagine what your relationships look like with your family and your friends, and imagine what your relationship looks like with your significant other. If you do this for the next five years, you won’t even recognize your life anymore, your life will become so great that you wish you would have started this five years ago so that today, you could be living a life of greatness.
And what’s going to end up happening is when you start developing a growth mindset in all these areas, you’re going to be building your life one brick at a time, until you have a life of mastery and once you have a life of mastery, anything is possible for you and you can live a life of freedom, the freedom that you want. And so, for me, I started focusing on my growth mindset seven years ago, the day that I got introduced to becoming an entrepreneur; to building a home based business and that transformed everything for me. I’m not a 10 out of 10 in all eight areas of my life however, all eight areas are drastically improved from where I was seven years ago. There’s areas of my life where I don’t even recognize anymore from who I was seven years ago and I can also see that and some people in my life who knew me seven years ago, who would have never guessed that I would become the person that I am today. And guess what? I’m going to continue doing this for the next five years of my life, for the next 10 years of my life and you could do it with me, we could grow in life together.
And so, if you get anything from the podcast today, the biggest takeaway, I would suggest, is decide, make a decision to transform from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset and once you do that, you will be living a life that you dream of, desire and deserve. All right, go grow your mindset.
